Dear friends, organizations in country and foreign!
Given the Vietnam authorities continue incessantly suppressing dissents with the tools of dictatorship, the citizens have been aware of the civil rights and human rights and demanded enforcement of these rights is an inevitable trend, occurring more and more powerful. The establishment of Former Vietnamese Prisoners of Conscience (FVPoC), born on Feb 18, 2014 has been a milestone, it’s unanimously confirmation of the former prisoners of conscience that“Freedom of conscience is one of the basic inalienable rights of a human being beside the freedom of thought, the freedom of religion and the freedom of expression… To live in accordance with our conscience is to live ethically, in the love of others, in justice and in truth. To act in accordance with our conscience is to act aiming at bringing happiness to others, especially for those who are victims of human rights violations.”
Ninety-one members of FVPoC, each in one way or another, individually and in association with others, committed to continuing the struggle for human rights, democracy and freedom peacefully, despite all intimidation, harassment, or even being arrested again in jail. Enormous challenge did not discourage us, no dangers lurking caused us frustrated. A future state of Vietnam should be a state respects human rights’ and civil rights standards, its future citizens should have the rights of freedom as of citizens of advanced countries and Vietnamese people deserves to enjoy them.
Therefore, FVPoC firmly engages into its campaigns, strongly demanding the Communist government to implementing ít commitment to respect the fundamental rights of citizens, such as the rights of freedom to access information, freedom of expression in all media, freedom of association, freedom of religion, civil society organizations independent from the state is free to operate, removal of Article 4 of the Constitution that allows Communists to be dictatorship, leading to a general election where candidates can be self- nominee, separation of powers.
The main activities were carried out
Since being born, FVPoC constantly has made efforts for the rights of freedom, aiding the relatives of PoC, members of FVPoC and especially our brothers, friends – prisoners of conscience. The main activities were carried out in six months as follows:
1 Condemns the violations of human rights:

3.1.Former Vietnamese Prisoners of Conscience welcomes the UNHRC Resolution on the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of peaceful protests (April 2, 2014)
3.2. FVPoC joined to sign with more than 600 international NGOs to call on the UN Human Rights Council to reinforce legal remedies when transnational corporations abuse human rights. The resolution was adopted on June 26.

4. Monthly Meetings of CSOs
4.1. The first ever Meeting of civil society organizations in Saigon (Mar 14, 2014).

Activities are expected in the next six months
We continue to maintain activities mentioned above, and we plan to add:
- In order to meet the information necessary on dissidents, human rights defenders, who are now in captivity by the Vietnam government, we will publish a full list about them. It is the list that FVPoC will not stop asking the authorities to release them unconditionally.
- The experience of those who have been imprisoned for the peaceful activities on human rights will contribute greatly to the individual, human rights organizations, politicians concerning about HR in Vietnam. Therefore, we will launch and urged our members to write their struggle stories. This collection will be published in two languages: Vietnamese and English. Although such a collection has been discussed since FVPoC was born, but due to insufficient factors we have not deployed yet.
