Nguyen Thai Hoc, head of department of Internal Affairs of Phu Yen Province, attends a trial in 2014, in which 5 police accused of killing a civilian
Hoc and his subordinates took advantage of their majority position to force lawyer Don to admit his “wrong doings” for participating in seeking justice for the family of Ngo Thanh Kieu, who died in police custody, and answering interviews from the media at home and abroad.
Very important evidence concerning a despicable plot revenging against lawyer Vo An Don has just been revealed.
Nguyen Thai Hoc, head of the department of internal affairs of Phu Yen province, is identified as the main architect of the plot. He was selected a member of the Standing Party Committee of the province early this year.
Provincial Internal Affairs ‘denounces’ lawyer Don
On his personal Facebook page, the lawyer posted today the voice recording clip of the meeting on February 12, 2015 at the office of Internal Affairs Committee of Phu Yen Provincial Committee, which was chaired by Nguyen Thai Hoc.
Hoc and his subordinates took advantage of their majority position to force lawyer Don to admit his “wrong doings” for participating in seeking justice for the family of Ngo Thanh Kieu, who died in police custody, and answering interviews from the media at home and abroad.
“I did not admit anything; so, at the end of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc loudly directed the Department of Justice and the Bar Association of Phu Yen to discipline me with severe forms and to revoke my license for practicing law,” the lawyer wrote on Facebook.
In the clip, Hoc loudly asks and demands the answers from the participants:
“Did lawyer Don commit wrong doing? What is his wrong doing? Is it the right time to discipline?”
Taking revenge
In the case that five police accused of killing Ngo Thanh Kieu, Hoc had taken advantage of his position in the party to instruct the court to rule very light sentences for the killers.
However, lawyer Don’s outstanding works had derailed Hoc’s wills. Five police received sentences from 2 to 8 years in prison, and the deputy head of Tuy Hoa police was sacked and prosecuted.
Being so angry, Hoc retaliated against lawyer Don by ordering the provincial police department, the court and Procuracy of Phu Yen to revoke Don’s license of practicing law.
Again, so far this plot has failed from implementation due to opposition from public opinion. However, Hoc would still take any means to get rid of lawyer Don, including assassination.
At the end of clip, Hoc loudly threatens Phu Yen Bar Association:
“I suggest the comrades of the Bar Association to take it seriously. Do not think that no one can interfere with your decisions from the meeting.”
Despite facing problems and danger, lawyer Don still boldly writes on Facebook:
“I don’t know when I will be disciplined and lose my license, but whenever I can practice law I still provide free counseling to the poor and disadvantaged people in our society, and whose relatives killed by police.”
