Member of the Politburo and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Nguyen Thien Nhan, received on Monday heads of Vietnam’s overseas diplomatic corps before they undertake missions abroad. He asked the diplomats to seek business opportunities to expand Vietnam’s export markets, promote Vietnamese products, draw foreign investment for national economic development, and introduce Vietnam’s democracy in politics, religion, and human rights.
He asked the ambassadors and consul generals to rally overseas Vietnamese, encourage their contribution to the homeland, help them stabilize their lives, protect their rights, and reflect their aspirations to the Party and State leaders. Mr. Nhan said: “Overseas Vietnamese people are unofficial representatives of Vietnam in the local countries. Millions of Vietnamese living abroad can help local people understand more about Vietnam. It’s important to have the support of key overseas Vietnamese who can represent their community to tell us their thoughts and aspirations.”
Doan Xuan Hung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, said the ambassadors were aware of their profound responsibilities and were committed to fulfilling their assigned tasks to help raise Vietnam’s image internationally.
